There are many furniture charities out there who collect unwanted items and either sell that at low prices or who run local crisis referral schemes to give items away to people who need them. The best place to start is the Reuse Network. You can use the link below to search for local reuse organisations.
Not all furniture reuse organisations are members of the Reuse Network so a quick Google search can also reveal other local organisations too. Another option is Freegle or Freecycle or, alternatively, a furniture charity shop such as a local British Heart Foundation shop.
