Furniture Reuse in Social Housing

More and more social landlords are looking to reuse the items left behind in their empty properties.

This not only helps to reduce their waste bills, but more importantly can allow them to help their tenants as good quality items can be gifted to tenants. This should not replace a furnished tenancy scheme, but it is ideal for tenants who may not be suitable for a furnished tenancy, if they are in employment and not in receipt of benefits, and also those who just need help with one or two essential furniture items.

Stockport Housing Group run a great furniture reuse programme. You can find out more in the case study on their furniture scheme here. (insert link)

If you are a social landlord and interested in exploring furniture reuse, do get in touch and we can offer advice and introduce you to other landlords who have developed schemes to share frontline experiences.
