Rebuilding Crisis Support – Local Welfare Assistance

Local Welfare Assistance, (LWA), schemes are an ideal source of support for people who require one or two essential furniture items.

They also provide vital assistance for food and fuel, and many offer a wide range of other support as well. Budgets for LWA have dwindled over the past decade after responsibility for schemes was devolved from central to local government, and as local authority budgets have been greatly reduced. We produce annual updates on the state of LWA across the UK and work with partners such as MPs, other charities, and other campaigning groups to lobby the government for increased, ring-fenced funding for LWA to ensure this crucial support is able to continue.
