How we work

End Furniture Poverty is the campaigning arm of the FRC Group, a social business and charity based in Liverpool.

FRC Group has nearly 30 years of experience of providing furniture, both new and pre-loved, to people in Furniture Poverty. Reducing and ultimately eradicating Furniture Poverty is at the heart of FRC Group's social mission, which is why End Furniture Poverty was launched in 2015. End Furniture Poverty raises awareness of the often hidden problems of Furniture Poverty, informs people across all types of housing about the potential solutions to Furniture Poverty that exist and champions major change to tackle the problems of Furniture Poverty on a national scale.

End Furniture Poverty will be running a set of parallel campaigns, targeting different parts of the housing sector, all ultimately sharing the same aim of ending Furniture Poverty. The first of these campaigns is Furnishing Homes Furnishing Lives, which is focused on increasing the provision of furnished tenancies in the social housing sector. As part of the campaign, we are offering pro bono support to housing providers who are interested in providing furnished tenancies to give best practice advice and expertise. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

Some of our upcoming activities and projects including:

  • Conducting in depth research about the extent and impact of Furniture Poverty on those affected by it
  • Develoing a furnished tenancy toolkit – we are looking for people already running furnished tenancies to get involved in shaping the toolkit and to demonstrate best practice – get in touch if you would like to take part
  • Carrying out a national survey to map the size and impact of existing furnished tenancy provision
  • Creating best practice guidance for the creation of successful Under 35s shared accommodation
